Trip Details

Step back in time and discover the Boreal Forest of Woodland Caribou Provincial Park as you ply deep, fish rich waters and travel a landscape steeped in First Nations and fur trade history.

Paddle and portage through this incredibly remote wilderness with our professional guides as you witness pure stands of fire born Jack Pine and Black Spruce, encounter the elusive Woodland Caribou and discover a true Boreal experience. This all inclusive fly-in / fly-out guided trip package offers you the ultimate in back country adventure as you board our De Havilland Beaver aircraft and set out for 14 days of remote paddling adventure to the far corner of Woodland Caribou Provincial Park.

50 miles later, you touch down in the heart of the Boreal, flip the canoes into the water and set out for adventure. The drone of the aircraft gets fainter and fainter and soon the only sound to be heard is your heart beating as you begin your journey! This trip begins with a meet and greet at your hotel, followed by a 3 hour interpretive water tour of Red Lake exploring pictograph sites, an historic Hudson Bay post and the West Red Lake Museum.

The day ends with a private dinner featuring local cuisine, fine wine and a trip briefing with your guides before retiring for the night. The next morning it’s off to the air base for an exhilarating float plane ride into Woodland Caribou Provincial Park to begin the journey.

Over the next 14 days you’ll explore this remote landscape by canoe, developing your skill set and learning about the fire born ecology of this unique Park. The trip ends at one of the largest pictograph sites in North America before you hear our aircraft off in the distance.

The flight home is a great time to reflect on the previous 2 weeks as you fly over the land you’ll have worked hard to travel across. Once back in Red Lake, relax at your hotel before a final meal with trip mates. This fly-in / fly-out package is the premier trip we offer.

Over the course of 2 weeks, you’ll work with our professional guides to develop your wilderness tripping skills as well as learn about the fire driven Boreal Forest of the park. Primitive fire making, knot tying tarp rigging, open fire cooking and flat water paddling skills workshops are all included. Paddle Canada flat water certification is also included with this trip package.
