Pukaskwa National Park is host to Ontario’s most remote, challenging and rewarding wilderness coastal hikes.
It’s a one way trail that extends 60 km along Lake Superior. from Pukaskwa Headquarters at Hattie Cove southwards to North Swallow River. a road-less wilderness accessible only by water.
Your trek begins at Hattie Cove in with overnight orientation at Rock Island Lodge near Wawa. Travelling by van to Pukaskwa Park. The next morning you’ll board a 30 foot catamaran for a spectacular boat shuttle southwards to White Gravel River.
Over the next 5 days you’lll make the 45 km return hike to the Park headquarters at Hattie Cove. It’s a challenging trail with plenty of Canadian bedrock, Boreal forest, wide open Lake Superior view-scapes and perhaps a glimpse of an elusive Woodland Caribou.
Your group size is small and your guide a seasoned professional who knows the area ecology and the trail’s stories. You will be responsible for carrying a portion of the group gear as well as tent, sleeping bag and your personal gear.

How To Join The Trip
Fly into Sault Ste. Marie on Air Canada or Porter Airlines. Rent a car and drive 4 1/2 hours north to Pukaskawa National Park. A shuttle is also available for an additional cost.
This guided adventure is offered in August/September annually. It can be customized for another date or it can be done as a self-guided hike.
