Trip Details

Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, Canada’s most renowned artists, found beauty and inspiration in Ontario’s wilderness, particularly in Algonquin Provincial Park. Their paintings have come to represent Canada as imagined by most Canadians and the world.

On this Algonquin Outfitters (AO) 2 day adventure package, you’ll explore their most beloved landscape, a special place that continues to inspire all of its visitors. “The Park” is home to an abundant and diverse wildlife population, including moose, wolves and black bears, unspoiled lakes and rivers and spectacular scenery.

The Ultimate Outfitting package includes (almost) everything you will need. Along with all food, camping gear and light weight canoeing equipment, this package includes pre-trip route planning, free permit reservation service, free tent cabin accommodation on Oxtongue Lake for the nights before and after your trip (with hot showers!) and free, secure parking at Oxtongue Lake.

Upon your arrival, you’ll participate in AO’s Greenhorn Service, where a knowledgeable guide will provide a short introduction to packing, paddling and camping fundamentals before setting off on your wilderness adventure on your own.

Note: This package is available for 2 days to 6+ days. If you need a little more help getting started, AO offers an innovative program where an experience guide will accompany you for the first day of your trip. Once you are safely established on your first campsite with dinner cooking, the guide will depart, allowing you to finish the trip on your own. Fully guided multi-day trips are also available.

Tour the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery In Huntsville area to learn about Tom Thomson and Group of Seven paintings. Explore the Ontario Parks Algonquin Visitor Centre and visit the Algonquin Art Gallery. For regional tourism information, visit Explorers’ Edge.

To see original Tom Thomson and Group of Seven artwork, stop at the McMicheal Art Gallery in Kleinburg on your way back to Toronto.
